Unreliable determination of in situ stress orientation by cross multipole array acoustic logging in fractured shale reservoirs

چکیده

With the development of shale gas exploration in China, use conventional logging tools has been introduced, and cross multipole array acoustic have gradually used to determine stress orientation shale. The direction fast shear waves (FSWs) is generally parallel horizontal maximum principal compression (SHmax). However, azimuth FSWs found be main strike (but not SHmax) structural fractures reservoirs. Outcrop image data indicate that natural this area NE‒SW. If wave anisotropy caused by only around borehole are known NE‒SW, SHmax should NE‒SW; however, according statistics land movement adjacent areas, anelastic strain recovery, earthquake focal mechanism, breakouts, hydraulic fracturing data, deviated well drilling-induced fracture local regions, oriented NW‒SE direction, directions direction. This contradiction indicates may affect FSWs. Therefore, it reliable XMAC (Cross-Multipole Array Acoustilog) situ fractured In addition, middle thick mudstones NW‒SE, which represent accurate information about

Application of Decline Analysis in Fractured Reservoirs, Field Case Studies

Decline curve analysis has some advantages over transient well test analysis in which it is not required to shut-in the well and also wellbore storage effects do not exist. Few studies have been done on decline curve analysis of naturally fractured reservoirs but there are even some limitations with available models. On the other hand well test could be expensive and in some operational conditi...

SPE 139250 Analysis of Mechanisms of Flow in Fractured Tight-Gas and Shale-Gas Reservoirs

In this paper we analyze by means of numerical simulation the mechanisms and processes of flow in two types of fractured tight gas reservoirs: shale and tight-sand systems. The numerical model includes Darcy’s law as the basic equation of multiphase flow and accurately describes the thermophysical properties of the reservoir fluids, but also incorporates other options that cover the spectrum of...

Rate Decline Analysis of Vertically Fractured Wells in Shale Gas Reservoirs

Based on the porous flow theory, an extension of the pseudo-functions approach for the solution of non-linear partial differential equations considering adsorption-desorption effects was used to investigate the transient flow behavior of fractured wells in shale gas reservoirs. The pseudo-time factor was employed to effectively linearize the partial differential equations of the unsteady flow r...
